Job summary:

• Using standard techniques performs routine engineering work: analyzes, designs, programs, debugs and modifies embedded control software used in electronic devices.
• Troubleshoots code for firmware (embedded code) applications. Code may be used in commercial or end-user applications. Work often involves analog and digital hardware and software systems. 
• Position requires knowledge and exposure to hardware design. Typically programs in assembly language and high level languages (e.g. C language).
• Completes documentation and procedure for release and maintenance.
• Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments

Specific Responsibilities:

• Performs complex product design activities which may require extensive research and analysis. Performs design, implementation and maintenance of complex multiple product module/sub-system. Participates in product design meetings. In absence of product architects, may serve as a product architect. Design and implementation in order to meet project objectives. Documentation of development work.
• Performs complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions to the problems. Conducts unit testing and integration testing for functionality and limits.
• Completes documentation and procedure for release and maintenance. May interact with customers and other dept, to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.
• Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues. Researches new technology or development tools to remain informed of current technology.

          Regular reliable attendance and courteous treatment, communication and interaction in all working relationships, internal and external. May assist in performing on-site client work on complex applications.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineer, Software Engineering or Computer Science
• Prefer MS + 2 years experience or BS + 4 years experience.
• Good technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design and implementation. Good analytical and design skills at multiple product level. Good skills in research and analysis. Good understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance. Good communications and interpersonal skills. Good PC skills.
• Resource must develop his technical skills enough to evaluate and design independently more complex sub-system (or entire system);
• Resource must reach a complete autonomy and do his job under minimal supervision and only for particularly complex tasks;
• Resource must develop skills to effectively communicate within his work group and outside of it and to give directions to small team of technicians or less experienced designers;
• Resource must develop skills to work with all internal R&D Datalogic processes:
• about SAP, thoroughly understands and handles SAP transactions,
• about Revision Control: is able to thoroughly understand and handle at a developer level and project leader level Dimension transactions; 
• about Technical Documentation: he is able to thoroughly understand internal technical process, handle SW Life Cycle documentation and tools (DOORS)
