The GFG VN Engineering team is responsible for building safe, secure and high throughput payments primitives. We own a range of platform primitive components such as, but not limited to, Wallet, Reconciliation Engine and API Gateway. Get to know the Role:

We are seeking passionate engineers with great problem solving skills to join our team. In this role, you will not only have opportunities to build critical components in Grab, but also work with partners to help them integrate our payment features. You will be handing products developed in various tech stacks including but not limited to GoLang, Java, PHP, NodeJs, Python, etc. You need to collaborate with different teams to deliver the best experience and resolve pain points for our users and partners - their happiness is your happiness.

The day-to-day activities:

Write high quality, bug-free, reusable, maintainable backend code

Participate in code review and design review

Initiate system design and solution proposal

Coordinate in technical and product review meetings with partners and internal teams

Accountable for system stability by ensuring all monitors or alerts are set up correctly and updated regularly

Document your feature development or happening issues and share with your team

Provide project planning with task analysis, estimation and potential blockers

Propose & apply improvements both in technical and non-technical areas 

Support other team members

Join team on-call rotation to monitor system and support our partners

The must haves:

You have a degree in Engineering and a specialization in CS/IT will be an advantage

You have at least 3 years of working experience in a relevant field

You have working knowledge of building back end systems and/or libraries

You are proficient in at least one programming language and the fundamentals of CS such as Data Structures, Algorithms, Operating Systems etc.

You showcase proactivity and creativity and understand the right balance between product, engineering, and business needs

You grok Web technologies and distributed systems

You prior experience in building consumer facing product is highly desired but not required

You are not afraid of giving and receiving feedback

You are a fan of Customer First

We care a great deal about code quality. We often go back and improve core parts of the codebase to make it better or more lean. We can do this because of great test coverage which will immediately sound the alarm when something goes wrong.

We ship on quality instead of on time. When a feature is ready we deploy it immediately to everyone or use an internal system to roll it out to a certain percentage of customers. Various teams deploy new code many times throughout the day.
