(Business & Use Cases focus)
BA begins with the Collection, Organization, and Manipulation of data and is supported by major components (Descriptive Analytics, Predictive Analytics, Prescriptive Analytics)
- Descriptive Analytic - The use of data to understand past & current biz performance and make informed decisions
- Predictive Analytics - this seeks to predict the future by examining historical data, detecting patterns or relationships in these data, and then extrapolating these relationships forward in time
- Prescriptive Analytics - this uses optimization to identify the best alternatives to minimize or maximize some objective. Prescriptive analytics is used in many areas of business including operations, marketing, and finance.
USUAL ACTIVITIES
- Gather documents, and analyze business requirements.
- Work closely with stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts to get to the bottom of the problems.
- Be involved in developing technical solutions.
- Analyze the requirements through predictive technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and the Internet of Thing, etc.. to understand hidden trends and suggest a change.
- Communicate, and convince the stakeholders of how the recommended changes can positively affect the business growth if implemented.
- Interacting with Product Managers, Systems Architects, and Developers to make sure the changes are implemented correctly.
- Perform the operational, tactical, strategy analyst - the necessary scale, performance, reliability, fault tolerance, security, privacy, internationalization, and localization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Analytics Areas (core) - Have a solid understanding of where the company is heading, and need to know how their particular team is supposed to contribute to the larger purpose - Big data analytics, Quality control, SDLC areas, BPM (Business Process Modelling) functions, non-functional requirements and many more.
- Works with the business to recognize the opportunities so that the business operation and processes get improved.
- Be also involved in the designing and modification of the business system.
- Gather, document, and analyze various business requirements (BRD, FSD, SRS, Use Cases, User Story, etc.)
- Involved in solving business problems as required and also designing technical solutions.
- Provide the support to test the system and produce the system documentation and user manuals.
- Be responsible for documenting functional and technical designs of business systems.
- To make sure that the system is implemented correctly, by interacting with the Product Manager, the Development team
- Ensure to understand the stakeholders and subject matter experts' problems and needs.
- Business process modeling, business rule documentation
- Identify over the discover planning - 1. stakeholder group characteristics & dynamics, 2. project life cycle, 3. project type, 4. budget, 5. time constraints, 6. level of detail required in BA deliverables, 7. number/location of stakeholders, 8. types of requirements deliverables being produced.
Advise/consult to operation areas throughout the project lifecycle: - Engagement, Project Management, Issue Management, Change Management, Risk Management, Enterprise Architecture
- To Project/Product Initiation: scope, opportunities, Objectives, Impact, Solution options (for advising)
- To Product/Project Analysis: business process, Business requirements, priority suggestion
- To Design: Gap analysis, Data Analysis, Mapping, Business Rules
- To Development: Requirement queries, problem-solving, gap analysis
- To Testing/Implementation: UAT/BAT test scripts, Review of releases. Training, Support
Product Owner role in Scrum Team to support Product Delivery stage
- Responsible for team backlog, implementation & working with Product Manager to commit on the release plan
- Development project planning & prioritizing while optimizing the value of the dev team's work
- Plan and prioritize development activities based on system, available resources, business goals, and end-user impact.
- Monitor & track new features, analyze what features need to be improved.
- Define iteration and stories. Accepts iteration increments
- Establishes story acceptance criteria; accept the stories into the baseline
